In the latest installment in the PorterStories series, Aveline O’Sullivan of Bellfinn identifies the benefits and perks of basing her company in PorterShed and outlines the reasons she would recommend any start-up to base themselves out of a co-working space.

Aveline is the Estate Manager at Bellfinn, a Galway based and founded technology provider and real estate management start-up that specializes in the telecoms industry. They provide expert services and professional consultants to advise, mentor, develop and implement strategies for businesses and clients such as Network Operators, Equipment Vendors or Investors.

Rebranded in 2016, Aveline, along with her husband, Bellfinn’s Managing Director, Denis Maguire, in part credits the motivational environment of the PorterShed with the early success of their business. Bellfinn has already landed a contract which they attribute to the networking opportunities provided by the co-working space.

“The motivational environment and being able to mix with like-minded people are conducive to learning and the efficiency of your start-up", says Aveline. Having previously worked in the telecoms industry, with Meteor and Ericson respectively, Aveline and Denis bring a wealth of experience to Bellfinn, and that deep running know-how and knowledge is provided with a platform and an impetus at Portershed. "Oh, the coffee is really good too," she adds.

Connections and networking hold massive importance in the success of any start-up, and Aveline is glowing in her appraisal of the base and platform the Portershed gave Bellfinn to grow.

“Structurally, the building itself is very welcoming, the large space, access to meeting rooms and top-class facilities provide an ideal setting to meet clients. The staff, too, deserve a huge amount of credit and Mary Rodgers, the Community Innovation Manager and Aisling Daly, the Community Officer, are incredibly supportive and their positive energy and support is crucial to the success of any start-up. They genuinely want to see you succeed and those sentiments are true of every start-up based in the Portershed. There is a real synergy amongst all the startups and that positive mentality is key”.
