You joined CitySwift in July 2024, right in the middle of an exciting period of growth. What has it been like stepping into a fast-scaling company?
Hard to believe it’s only been eight months! Time flies in this kind of environment. It’s been an amazing experience so far. I love my coworkers, and the fast-paced nature of the job keeps things exciting with something new to tackle every day.
Your background is in media and communications, what led you to your current role in Executive and Office Operations?
Yep, my background is in communication and media, primarily within the hospitality sector, focusing on social media and in-person events and fundraisers. I’m particularly interested in how we connect and interact in this tech-driven, post-COVID world. The role at CitySwift caught my eye for two key reasons:
1.) I’m passionate about the sustainable mission.
2.) It allowed me to break into tech while still doing what I love.
Are there any particular skills from your media and communications background that have helped you in your current role?
Branding & Culture Building. I think my background has helped me shape events and the office environment to reflect CitySwift culture, ensuring that both new hires and long-time employees feel connected and engaged.
Moving from the U.S. to Galway is a big change! What drew you to Ireland, and how has your experience been settling into the West of Ireland?
It was definitely a big move! Once I got past the logistics, settling in was surprisingly easy. I was initially drawn to Galway for its people, vibrant art & food scene, and easy access to the rest of Europe. But what truly surprised me was the immediate sense of community I felt after moving here, whether it was at the PorterShed, my local butcher, or simply getting to know my neighbors better than I ever did back in America.
What advice would you give to other women relocating to Galway?
There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing
What are some of your favorite things about Galway—any go-to spots for coffee, food, or a good night out?
So many amazing spots to choose from, but some of my go-to’s are: Plámás for coffee, Kasbah Wine Bar or Bierhaus for a drink, and Crazy Corn or Greens & Co for a bite to eat.
CitySwift specialises in bus transportation data, so, the real question is… do you take the bus? 🚍😄
I’m a huge advocate for public transit! I love buses, but trains will always have my heart. Luckily, I get to walk to work every day. I am truly spoiled!
With CitySwift growing so quickly, what’s next for the company, and what are you most excited about in the year ahead?
With CitySwift growing rapidly, from expanding our team to advancing our technology, there’s so much to be excited about!
Personally, I’m looking forward to seeing how our office evolves to accommodate this growth, our expansion at the PorterShed, more in-person collaboration, and, of course, the great events we have planned to bring everyone together. It’s an exciting time to be part of a company that’s making such a meaningful impact on public transport!
As we celebrate International Women’s Day, what does the day mean to you?
To me, International Women’s Day is about recognising the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in every space. It’s a reminder to keep pushing for equal opportunities, amplify diverse voices, and create environments where everyone, regardless of gender, can thrive.
