Galway City Innovation District appoints Mary Rodgers as CEO
The Board of Galway City Innovation District (GCID) are pleased to announce the appointment of Mary Rodgers to the role of Chief Executive Officer.
Mary joined GCID in 2016 as Innovation Community Manager during her tenure she has overseen the management and operations of the Portershed.
The PorterShed is the first building in the Galway City Innovation District. Often acclaimed as best in class, the PorterShed has become a renowned tech innovation hub showcasing Galway and the West of Ireland. Since opening in May 2016 The PorterShed has been home to more than 65 Technology Innovation Driven Enterprises and member companies have had inward investment of €36m. The PorterShed has supported the creation of over 750 jobs, held over 1,000 events and welcomed more than 11,500 visitors.
GCID was recently awarded funding by Enterprise Ireland to further develop the Galway City Innovation District. Planning applications have been submitted and GCID plans to open two new Technology Innovation hubs in 2021, The new buildings will provide coworking and event space, as well as delivering accelerator programmes and entrepreneurship training.
Mary has over 20 years experience in key roles as both an Entrepreneur and Executive manager. Prior to joining GCID Mary ran her own business, Stateside Solutions, helping Irish companies to enter the US market. Prior to Stateside, she was Vice President at Credit Suisse in New York.
