On March 4, Minister Robert Troy officially opened our new home at Bowling Green, and it was fantastic to see so many people turn out to support the unveiling as part of the Galway City Innovation District’s redevelopment of our city’s tech scene!
It’s already been a busy and exciting 2022 for us here at the PorterShed, and we’re delighted to continue the positivity with our big move.
Bowling Green is the next important step in continuing the regeneration of Galway City, as we further nurture the area’s identity as a leading centre where those with the ideas to make a change can do exactly that.
The PorterShed has always been a place where big thinkers can come to innovate, explore new modalities, and get plans off the ground – and that spirit is only going to become more potent at Bowling Green with the expansion of the GCID.
Importantly, our move has been delivered on time and within budget, an objective that has been of high importance to us ever since we started planning for the move over one year ago.
Equally importantly, Bowling Green is a state-of-the-art building that will help continue to foster so many start-ups’ ambitions, give space for tech professionals to conduct their business, and provide somewhere remote working can be carried out in comfort and aided by high-end facilities.
Bowling Green has the capacity for some 130 members to innovate, grow, and develop; from amazing FDIs to the disruptive and agile start-ups that make the PorterShed what it continues to be, our new hub is going to be the centre of all things tech, big-thinking, and inspiring entrepreneurship.
Soon to be complemented by the repurposed former Connacht Tribune building, where scale-ups will have space to conduct their operations, we are well on course to deliver a campus-style innovation centre right in the heart of Galway so that all kinds of companies can ideate, prosper, and turn visions into realities.
We’re ecstatic to have finally ushered in this new era, and we’re equally excited to continue welcoming our members – current and future – to come and join us as we begin a new time for the PorterShed community.
